Daniel "Danny" Bennett Euliss

Adoring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Daniel  “Danny” Bennett Euliss, passed away on January 23, after battling pulmonary fibrosis for over 8 years. Dan was 78 and surrounded by his wife of 56 years and 2 of his 4 daughters when he passed.  If you knew Dan, you can probably say he is the nicest man you have ever met (and he may just be the only man who has never said a curse word even after raising 4 daughters).  He loved God and he loved people.  His most quoted verse and antidote to solve all the world’s problems is “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Dan was born to John F. “Butch” and Gaynell Younts Euliss on November 20, 1943 in New Port News, VA and a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church in Burlington, NC from a very young age. Dan met Pamela Meredith when they were just 12 years old.  The two became a pair in high school and married in 1965. Dan and Pam started off their marriage in New Bern, NC, later moving to Graham and then Raleigh, NC.  Dan was blessed with 4 daughters: Brittney, Bethany, Meredith and Megan who he adored with all his heart.  The family moved to Lilburn, GA in 1984 where they finished raising their kids, moved back to North Carolina afterwards, then retired to Toccoa, GA on Lake Hartwell.  Once his pulmonary fibrosis started to limit activities, Dan and Pam moved back to North Carolina to be closer to daughters.  Dan was extremely creative and could fix anything. He loved wood working and working in his workshop.

After graduation from East Carolina University, Dan went on to use his graphic design talents as the Publications Director and art instructor at Elon College.  He felt a calling from God to use his talents to serve in the ministry and was able to do so at the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina where he started his career in graphic design moving up into Publications and Communications.  He then moved to the Home Mission Board in Atlanta, GA and became Public Relations Director and then moved back to the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina in 1998 where he headed Stewardship Education.  His career took him all over the world where he was able to promote missions and awareness of God’s work. He has many achievements such as being honored to design the crest for Graham High School as a high schooler himself, receiving the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award from the Governor of North Carolina for his work with the volunteer North Carolina campaign, starting Providence Baptist Church with 4 other families, and designing campaigns that led to numerous awards for design from the Baptist Public Relations Association and the Silver Anvil award from the Public Relations Society of America. He was passionate about sharing the love of our Lord with others and loved working with the Baptist Men for Disaster Relief in his retirement.

Dan was most passionate about his family.  He loved and adored his wife with all his heart, his daughters and his grandchildren and would rather be with them than anywhere.  They may have turned the hair on his head gray early, but he loved it all the same.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, John F. “Butch” and Gaynell Younts Euliss, and his brother-in-law, Butch Harrington. He is survived by many loving family members, including his wife Pam Meredith Euliss, his daughters and their husbands: B. Jane and Brent Buford, Bethany and Geoff Hedges, Meredith and Chandler Rose, Megan and Alex Anderson; his grandchildren: Syd Buford, Ben and Jack Hedges, Madeline and Eleanor Rose, Everette and Lennox Anderson, his sister Cathy Harrington and nephews Chase Harrington and John Harrington.

Funeral Service will be held at Forest Hills Baptist Church, Raleigh, NC on Friday 2/4 at 2:00 PM.  201 Dixie Trail, Raleigh, NC.
