David Gregory Hargrove, 65, of Graham, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, in Stokes County, North Carolina. Born on January 2, 1960, in Davidson County, NC, David's life was a testament to his strength, kindness, and unwavering spirit. David's early years in Davidson County laid the foundation for a life full of love, service, and adventure. His journey took him far and wide, but he always remained a true son of North Carolina. A proud veteran of the US Marine Corps, David served his country with honor and dedication. His commitment to service continued long after his military career as he served numerous years on the Graham Fire Department, where he was a beloved volunteer, always ready to lend a hand to those in need. Professionally, David had a remarkable career in construction. His hands could skillfully fix anything that was broken, and his mind could solve the most complex of problems. Colleagues and friends often remarked that there wasn't anything David couldn't figure out. His willingness to help others was a hallmark of his character, and he was often the first to offer assistance, tools in hand, with a smile that could light up the room. David's passions extended beyond his work and service. He was an avid lover of the great outdoors, finding peace and joy in the sky and on the water. Whether he was flying high above the clouds or sailing on the waves, David was in his element. The mountains, too, held a special place in his heart, offering him solace and a sense of adventure. Above all, David was a family man. He is survived by his loving sons, William Michael Hargrove and his wife Amy, Charles Brandon Hargrove and his wife Ashley; his adored grandchildren, Katy Marie Hargrove and Lindsay Nicole Hargrove; and Dale Hargrove, the mother of his children. His legacy also lives on through his nephew, Todd Hargrove, and great-nieces, Victoria and Kristen Hargrove. David's love for his family was boundless, and nothing brought him more happiness than the time he spent with his grandchildren. Their laughter was his greatest joy, and his influence will forever be a part of their lives. David Gregory Hargrove's life was one of purpose, joy, and love. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, a community enriched by his service, and a family fortified by his love. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we celebrate the life he lived and the countless ways he touched our lives. David's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories we share and the lives he influenced. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to guide us, just as the stars guide a sailor on the sea.
Services for David will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
