Mr. David Hancle Vickers 86, of Snow Camp, NC passed away on May 8, 2024, at his residence. A native of Alamance Co. NC he was the son of the late Rev. Joseph Thomas Vickers and Mary Jane Coble Combs. David is a proud veteran of the US ARMY National Guard and was a faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church being a member for 44 years. For 25 years, David and three other men from Eastside Baptist Church, known as the "Rest Home Boys" would visit White Oak Manor every Tuesday to sing to residents from room to room and hold service in the dining room. He was known for being the “White Sanford and Son” always finding value in everything and he was always there for anyone who needed someone to talk to as he never met a stranger. David worked numerous years at County Ford but will forever be remembered for being a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Edna “Carolyn” Poe Vickers; his daughter, Mary Vickers Brown and husband, Jonathan; his sons, David Vickers II and wife Mary Lynn, Frankie Vickers and wife Rose, Daniel Lee Vickers and wife Polly Kay, and John Henry Vickers; his 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Gray, one half-sister, and his brothers, Lester and Norman Vickers. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday May 11, 2024, at Eastside Baptist Church with the Pastors Chris Hill and Chuck Perkins officiating. A private burial will follow in Vickers Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the service at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
