Debra Kay Campbell Martin

BURLINGTON - Debra Kay Campbell Martin, 63, of 1783 Lower Hopedale Road, Burlington, N.C. 27217, passed away at Duke University Hospital on Saturday, March 14, 2015. Kay was the first female recruiter for the North Carolina Army National Guard, first female police officer for the Graham Police Department and worked for Western Electric for several years. Kay retired from the Alamance- Burlington School System in 2013 and was the station manager for Burlington Christian Radio Station, WBYJ, until her death. Kay is survived by her husband, Warren Douglas Martin, of the home; daughters, Cindy Dawn Hebert (Scott) of Texas, LaShae Johnson (special friend, Traci Dixon) of Burlington; son, Warren Martin Jr. (Janie) of Burlington; grandchildren, Kevin Sheffield (Tonya Hall) of Burlington, Scott Hebert Jr. (Stephanie) of Texas, Brody Hebert of Texas, Dakota Glasscock, Jesse Glasscock, Abigail Martin, Kinsey Martin, and Taylor Martin, all of Burlington; five great- grandchildren; sister, Jackie Fisher; nephews, Jerry Cochran (Bonnie) of Graham, Eddie Lynn (Nanci) of Burlington; and niece, Melanie Shields of Chapel Hill. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Scott Campbell and Claudia McPherson Campbell; grandchildren, Trevor Johnson and Jason Hebert; brothers, Robert "BC" Campbell, Richard "Pete" Scott Campbell; and sister, Vicky Hundley. A visitation will be held at the residence from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015. A memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday March 19, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Haw River with the Rev. Dexter Richardson and Kevin Brumagin officiating.
