Dewey Reid Dawson

Dewey Reid Dawson, 61, of Burlington, NC, passed away on December 11, 2023. He was the son of Carl and MaLinda Childress. Dewey enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and loved to joke around. He also enjoyed watching Andy Griffith, was a fan of the UNC Tarheels, and like helping with the church bus ministry.

In addition to his mother, Dewey was preceded in death by his brother, Raven “MeMe” Dawson.

Dewey is survived by his father, Carl Childress; his son, Toney Dawson (Christa); his dog, Javier “Hobby”; his sisters, Darlene Dawson, Linda Warren, and Roz Fryer (Phil); and his special friends, Scott Kivett and Richard Johnson.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 2:00pm at McClure Funeral Home in Graham. The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45pm prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gentiva Hospice of Alamance County. The family would like to express their gratitude for those who were there for Dewey in his time of need.
