GRAHAM - Mr. Dillard Massie Byers, 89, passed away on Feb. 15, 2014, at the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell. Dillard was the son of the late Thomas and Lucy Hite Byers. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. He worked in the body shop at Dick Shirley Chevrolet and was later promoted to the body shop foreman. Survivors include his wife Helen Byers; brother Billy Byers; sister Elsie Seamon; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at McClure Funeral Service in Graham. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, in the McClure Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Clarence Toney officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hermon Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215 and Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Memorial Association, 4178 Mt. Hermon-Rock Creek Road, Graham, NC 27253.
