Donald Bert Totten Sr.

Donald Bert Totten Sr., 73, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 30 at Authoracare of Alamance.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Fred Totten Sr. and Sarah Totten Hall; and brother, Lloyd Fred Totten Jr.

Donald was born July 12, 1949 in Burlington where he spent his entire life. He worked many years at Burlington Industries and later at LabCorp. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time in the woods.  He always said he was born 100 years too late.  Donald enjoyed the camaraderie and fellowship of sharing his time with friends and family.  He loved guns and everything about them from muzzle loaders to target pistols.  He often entered and won shooting competitions.  Donald loaded his own bullets, built his own guns and ran a gun shop for a short while.  In addition, he enjoyed woodworking and made several pieces of furniture.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 5th at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Burlington by Rev. Nathan Hooks.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

He is survived by his wife Hilda Lewis Totten; two sons, Bert Totten and girlfriend Jane Slovik; Matt Totten and wife Julie;  one brother Steve Totten and wife Marjorie; sister-in-law Nellie Totten;  5 grandchildren, Grey, Brock, Kat, Ethan and Avery Totten, along with four nieces and one nephew.

The family would like to thank the staff at Authoracare for their care of Donald. He was a loving husband, father and brother and will be sorely missed.
