Donna Suttles Elkins

DURHAM — Mrs. Donna Suttles Elkins, 57, of 2018 Elkins Lane/4605 Old Greesnboro Rd, Chapel Hill, NC, passed away on Sunday April 6, 2014 at the Hospice of Duke in Durham, NC. She was born in Cumberland county, NC to Ralph F. and Janie Johnson Suttles, both surviving. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Chapel Hill and she always enjoyed her church family. She worked at Grady Brown elementary school for 19 years where she drove a bus and loved her school children dearly. She also worked at Belk for numerous years, mainly because of her love for shopping. She was an avid lover of frogs, collecting all types of different frog items and when you went to visit her, you always left feeling empowered, she always made you feel good about yourself no matter how she felt that day. Survivors include her husband, Steve Wilson Elkins, of the home; daughter, Dawn Elkins Dean and husband Anthony, of Chapel Hill; son, David Elkins and wife Darla, of Chapel Hill; sister, Michelle S. Brown and husband Mark, of Chapel Hill; brother, Frankie Suttles and wife Donna, of Chapel Hill; grandchildren, Jake and Brooke Elkins; and numerous loving Nieces and Nephews. A Graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday April 10, 2014 at the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with Ernie Keck officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM on Wednesday April 9, 2014 at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham, and other times at the residence of the family.
