Donna Rice

Donna Wilson Rice, 62, passed away on March 26 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Donna worked as a Paralegal for many years but for the last 5 years she has worked at Alamance Community College which she thoroughly enjoyed. She loved working with all the staff and especially with all the students, particularly her student workers. She was selected as staff person of the year in 2016 which she was so honored to receive. Donna made a tremendous impact on everyone she came in contact with which has been evidenced by the outpouring of love shown for her. She always had a beautiful smile, a positive outlook, and was a bright light to anyone who knew her no matter what was going on with her or how much pain she was enduring. She always wanted to take care of everyone else because it was never about her. We will all remember her amazing spirit and the incredible person that she was and we'll look forward to hearing her say, "Everything 's going to be alright sugar" when we see her again. She is survived by her husband Barney D. Rice and son Joseph "Brent" Rice and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews and her special little friend Barkley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Macon Wilson and Alease Scarlet Wilson. The celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday March 30, 2017 in the Chapel at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane. Burial will follow in Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening March 29, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane and other times at the home. The family would like to especially thank everyone at Alamance Cancer Center for not only the care but the love they showed Donna on every visit and also a special thank you to the Alamance Community College group who were such a strong support for her over these last few years. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Donna Rice Scholarship Fund at Alamance Community College, or to Lebanon United Methodist Church in Mebane or to Hebron United Methodist Church in Mebane.
