Dorothy Epperson Watts

January 20, 1940 — May 26, 2024

Mebane

Dorothy “Dot” Epperson Watts, 84, of Mebane, NC, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, May 26, 2024.

Dot was a cherished wife and mother, finding joy in every moment spent with her beloved family. Dot was an excellent cook, and her home was a haven of laughter, warmth, and abundant love, always accompanied by delicious meals. After raising her children, she dedicated twenty years to K-Mart as a Customer Service Representative, retiring with gratitude for her time there.

Born on January 20, 1940, in Sylacauga, AL, Dot's journey led her to Port St Joe Beach, FL, where she met and married her soulmate, Lee “Ralph” Watts Jr., in 1957. Their union of fifty-five years was marked by love and adventure. Together, they raised three children while living in Jacksonville and Yulee, FL, later settling by the Chipola River in Wewahitchka, FL where they built their retirement home. Dot and Ralph shared a passion for fishing, often found on their dock or boat, reveling in each other's company. Dot moved once more in 2015 to Mebane, NC to be closer to her daughter.

Dot now reunites in heaven with Ralph, their two sons, and other departed family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee “Ralph” Watts Jr., sons Howard Lee Watts and James “Jimmy” David Watts, parents Howard Roosevelt Epperson and Margaret Skelton Epperson, brother James, and sister Josephine. Dot leaves behind her daughter Teresa Watts Cauble and husband Johnny, brother David Epperson, eight grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A celebration of Dot's life will be held on Thursday, June 6th, 2024, at 4:00 PM at McClure Funeral Home, 1308 S Third St, Mebane, NC, with visitation immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to AuthoraCare Hospice of Burlington.

Dot's legacy of love, laughter, and devotion will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
