Dorothy Hobbs Wheeler, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, at the Hospice Home in Burlington, North Carolina. Born on September 6, 1926, to the late John Thomas and Maude Jobe Hobbs, Dorothy's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and the love she had for her family and friends. Dorothy's journey began in the heart of North Carolina, where she grew up surrounded by her loving parents and siblings. Although she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Wheeler, and her siblings, Merrill Hobbs, Elmer Hobbs, J.T. Hobbs Jr., and Elizabeth Copeland, her legacy continues through her son, Kenneth Wheeler, her grandchildren, Olivia Chilton (Matt) and Bryant Wheeler, and her cherished great-grandchildren, Andrew Chilton (Jessica) and Andrea Chilton and her fiancé, Tyler. Throughout her life, Dorothy embodied the virtues of kindness, generosity, and love. She was a beacon of hope and a source of strength for all who knew her. Her guidance was sought by many, and her wisdom was cherished by those fortunate enough to have known her.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, June 1, 2025 in the McClure Funeral Chapel in Mebane. The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 1pm to 2pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
