Dr. Jeffery Stuart Anderson, a revered physician, dedicated serviceman, and passionate aviator, passed away on October 16, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on March 7, 1949, Dr. Anderson's life was marked by his unwavering commitment to serving others, both in his professional career and personal endeavors. Dr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Sue Albright Anderson, his siblings, Judi Anderson, Jon Anderson, and Jan Flores, his stepchildren, Natalie Gordon Dunton (James) and Nicholas Reid Gordon (Dawn O'Neill), and his daughters, Lisa Marie and Katie Anderson. His legacy continues through his nine grandchildren and one niece, Meagan Campbell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lois Anderson.
After establishing his own medical practice, Beach Care, in Morehead City, NC, Dr. Anderson became a pillar of the community, providing care and support to countless individuals. He retired on October 1, 2025 from West Caldwell Wellness Center in Lenoir, NC. His medical career was distinguished by his role as a flight surgeon in the US Army and Army Reserves, where he served with honor for 22 years. Dr. Anderson's pioneering spirit was evident early on as he became one of the first paramedics in the United States, setting a standard for emergency medical response. In times of national crisis, Dr. Anderson's expertise was invaluable. He was a member of the decontamination team during the tragic events of 9/11 and later volunteered his medical services in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, offering aid and comfort to those affected by the disaster. His commitment to his country was further demonstrated through his involvement with the Weapons of Mass Destruction Presidential Committee. Dr. Anderson's interests outside of medicine were as diverse as they were passionate. An avid pilot, he was actively involved with the Civil Air Patrol, contributing to search and rescue missions and mentoring young aviators. His love for the sea was evident in his enjoyment of sailing and deep-sea diving, activities that brought him peace and adventure. Dr. Anderson also had a deep appreciation for history, which he expressed through his participation in Civil War reenactments, bringing the past to life for new generations. A private graveside service to honor Dr. Anderson will be held at Hebron Community Church Cemetery in Mebane, NC.
