Dustin Lee Rakes, 33, also known as “Nature Boy”, of Snow Camp, died February 5, 2017 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle crash. Dustin was born in Orange County on November 5 1983, the son of Timothy Dale Rakes and Debbie Lynn Townsend Rakes. Dustin was an avid outdoorsman. He had a profound, deep love for his two sons. He touched many lives during his short time here, and was loved greatly by many family and friends. Dustin made everyone laugh, and was the life of the party everywhere he went. Survivors, in addition to his parents who reside in Burlington, include his wife, Jennifer Calhoun Rakes; sons, Evan Lee Rakes and Kameron Gabriel Rakes; his sister, Catina Lynn Daniels and husband Julian, and their daughters, Shelby and LeeLou Daniels, of Burlington; and grandparents, Ethel Gillman Townsend of Burlington and Carolyn Flynn Rakes of Reidsville; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Dustin was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Arlin Elvin Rakes and Wayne Macklie Townsend. The funeral service for Dustin Rakes will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, February 10, 2017 at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham. Interment will follow in Graham Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM on Friday at the funeral home. At other times friends may call at the residence on Griffin Road, or at the Calhoun residence on Preacher Roberson Road, both in Snow Camp. Pallbearers are Jimmy Cook, Julian Daniels, John Herring, Anthony Manning, Brian Mondie, Shawn Riggins, Joseph Townsend and Brian Wheeler.
