Edgar Franklin “Frank” Bowling, 85, of Durham passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017. Frank was a graduate of Durham High School. He was employed by Duke Energy and retired in 1992. He married the love of his life, Elsie Watts (Bowling), and they were married for almost 60 years- and enjoyed a quiet life together, which is what he always wanted. He had a booming voice and an infectious laugh, and could light up a room with his beautiful smile. He enjoyed working in the yard and going to the cafeteria every day with his wife to enjoy some good ‘ole country cooking. Football season was his favorite and he always looked forward to it. He and his son Eric had an elaborate scoring system and talked every day about strategy. This will be greatly missed. He was a lifelong Duke Blue Devil Fan. Frank is also survived by his sons; Eric Franklin Bowling and daughter in law Trisha Mary Scanlon of Mebane and Adam Lee Bowling of Kernersville. Sister; Valerie Bizzell of Durham. Brother; Wallace Lee Bowling of Portland, ME. Step Grandchildren; Briana Kathleen Whitaker of Bloomington, IN and Shannon Whitaker Terrell and husband Carter Wayne Terrell of Port Orchard, WA. He was preceded in death by; Parents; Andrew L. and Nellie Rosa Bowling. Sister; Nan Bowling Frick. There will be a Celebration of Life Service will be held at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane Saturday, Dec.23, 2017 at 1:00 PM.
