BURLINGTON - Mrs. Edna Louise Crawford Harden, age 101, of 1840 Brookwood Avenue, Burlington, NC, formerly of Graham, died on May 28, 2015.A lifelong resident of Alamance County, she was the wife of Peter Ray Harden, III, deceased and the daughter of the late John Milton Crawford and Lalah McAdams Crawford.After graduating from Graham High School, she attended UNC-G at Greensboro and was a retired legal secretary. She was a member of the Graham Presbyterian Church since 1926, serving as a former children's Sunday School Teacher, circle leader and secretary to the Sunday School Superintendent. She was a past member of the Graham Historical Society and a past president of the Leornian Book Club. She was a charter member and president of the House and Garden Club and a counselor of the Junior Garden Club. In 1963 she and her husband served as co-persons of the Alamance County Heart Fund. She and her sister were co-owners of Crawford's Department Store in Graham from 1974 until 1982.Survivors include one daughter Janet Harden Councilman and husband R. F. Councilman of Burlington, NC and one son Peter R. Harden IV and wife Jan Mersbach Harden of Charlotte, NC. Also surviving are two grandsons Jonathan Van Weygandt of Burlington, NC and Peter R. Harden V and wife Erin Harden of Holly Springs, NC and great-granddaughters Caroline and Amelia Harden and great grandson Peter R. Harden VI. Also, stepgrandchildren Rodney Councilman and wife Beth Councilman and Stacey Butcher and husband Ryan Butcher and a great-stepgranddaughter Foster Butcher and great-stepgrandson Clay Councilman; also one niece Marilyn Owens Foley and two great-nieces Ann Foley and Meredith Foley and nephew Jerry Owens.Mrs. Harden was predeceased by her husband, her parents and one sister Nina Graham Crawford Owens.A memorial service in celebration of her life will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at the Graham Presbyterian Church. Dr. Steve Braswell and the Rev. Michael Harden Sykes will officiate. The family will receive friends in the parlor of the Graham Presbyterian Church from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. There will be a graveside service at the Historic Providence Christian Church Cemetery, Graham, NC following the memorial service.The family wishes to express its deep appreciation to the staff at the Village at Brookwood and to the caregivers from Hospice.Memorials may be made to the Graham Presbyterian Church, P.
