ALAMANCE - Mr. Edward Guion Pryor, 87, of 1006 Sherwood Drive, Alamance, passed away at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. A native of South Carolina, he was the husband of Lucille Brown Pryor, of the home, and son of the late Mr. Connie G. Pryor and Lillie May Pryor. Edward was a veteran of World War II, proudly serving our country in the United States Navy. He served on the Aircraft Carrier and Destroyers USS Nueces and USS Rizzi as a 3rd Class Petty Officer, known as a "Boatswain's Mate." Mr. Pryor was retired from Western Electric, where he served over 30 years and also worked for the Guilford Center. He was a member of the Twin Oaks Church. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Edward is survived by his wife, Lucille, of the home; grand-daughter, Christy M. Staley and husband Jody of Burlington; and great-grand-daughter, Logan Staley. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Connie G. and Lillie May Pryor; wife and mother of the children, Nell Long Pryor; wife, Gladys G. Pryor; son, Steve Pryor; and daughter, Linda Pryor Miller. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 13, in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the Rev. James Law and the Rev. Larry Andrews officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McClure Funeral Home in Graham and at other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215. II Timothy 4: 7-8: " I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."
