Elaine Kerley Dodson

MEBANE - Mrs. Elaine Kerley Dodson, age 89, of Mebane, NC, died at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2015, at the Cone Health Alamance Regional Medical Center, Burlington, NC. Elaine was a loving, caring and giving person to everyone she met. She allowed the love of the Lord to shine through her, especially to all children in her life; all of whom affectionately will remember her as "Nana." Born in Orange County, NC, she was the daughter of the late James Franklin Kerley and Lilly Moon Kerley. Also preceding her in death was her first husband A.D. Farrell, and her second husband Lonnie Tyson Dodson Sr.; two daughters Faye D. Smithey and Charlene D. Frye, one great-grandson, 7 sisters and 4 brothers. Surviving her is a daughter Priscilla Farrell Rice and husband Donald of Mebane; son L.T. Dodson Jr. and wife Kim of Graham; two sons-in-law Sammy Smithey of Burlington and Gary Frye Sr. of Snow Camp; brother Jimmy Kerley of Mebane; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the McClure Funeral and Cremation Service, 1308 South Third Street, Mebane, NC, on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, from 6 until 8 p.m. and other times at the home of Priscilla and Donald Rice, 4709 Mebane Rogers Road, Mebane, NC. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2015, at the Mebane United Methodist Church with the Rev. Johnnie L. Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Mebane. Memorials may be made to the Mebane United Methodist Church, 200 South 4th St, Mebane, NC 27302.
