Elbert Franklin Solomon, of Mebane, known affectionately as “Franklin, Frankie or Hank” to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on January 7, 1941, in Person County, North Carolina, Elbert was a man of integrity, warmth, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones and community. Elbert's life was marked by his steadfast work ethic and his commitment to service. He retired from the city of Mebane after 20 years of diligent service in the Public Works Department. His dedication to his community shone brightly through his 37 years as a volunteer firefighter with the City of Mebane, where he was not only a protector of the people but also a cherished role model. A devout Christian, Elbert was a  member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in Mebane. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him in his daily actions and providing comfort and strength to those around him. Elbert's interests were simple yet profound. He found joy in riding around, sitting under a shade tree, and attending his grandchildren's ball games. These moments, though seemingly ordinary, were a testament to his love for his family and his delight in life's simple pleasures. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his son, Eric Solomon; daughters, Rhonda Solomon and Kristie Martin, and her husband, Roger. His grandchildren, Stephanie McDade, Emeri Solomon, Alyssa Dean, Ainsley Solomon, Brandi Hudgins, Whitney Crutchfield, Joshua Martin, and Kasey Martin, will forever hold dear the lessons and laughter shared with their Paw Paw. Elbert was also blessed with four great-granddaughters and five great-grandsons, who brought him immense joy in his later years. His numerous loving nieces and nephews will remember their uncle with fondness and admiration. Elbert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Elbert Solomon and Nannie Wheeley Solomon, and his sister, Carolyn Michael. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched. Elbert Franklin Solomon's life was a beacon of service, family, and faith. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we celebrate the enduring impact he made on his community and the unwavering love he bestowed upon his family. His memory will be treasured forever.

A service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, June 26, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mebane Ward by Brother Jerry Wagner. The internment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
