Elbert Johnson

Elbert Donald "Don" Johnson, 73, of Efland, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at the Hospice Home of Burlington. Don was born in Orange County to John W. and Martha T. Johnson both deceased. He was retired from Mebane Lumber Co. and was a veteran of the US Navy. His legacy lives on through his family with the values he practiced. Don was a faithful and providing husband. He showed unconditional love for his children and grandchildren and was loyal to his parents and siblings. We will miss him greatly. Don was survived by his wife: Mable P. Johnson of the home. Son: Eric Johnson of Efland. Daughters: Theresa (Tony) Kent of Cedar Grove and Amy (Eric) Crabtree of Mebane. Seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Brother: Bill (Jessie) Johnson of Gibsonville. Carolyn (Ray) Glasgow and Peggy (Johnny) Cates both of Efland. Other than his parents Don is preceded in death by an infant child, granddaughter: Kaitlyn Johnson and brothers: Johnny, James, Paul, and Wilbert Johnson. A graveside service will be held Friday, August 25, 2017 at 3 p.m. in the Chestnut Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor, David Smith. The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday evening. Other times they will be at the residence. The family would like to thank the Hospice Home and their staff for their compassionate care during Don's stay there.
