Eleanor T. Ragan

Eleanor Thompson Ragan, 86, of Chapel Hill passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019 at The Presbyterian Home of Hawfields in Mebane. Eleanor was born in Alamance County to Robert Colon and Manor Hargrove Thompson, both deceased. She was a lifelong member of Orange Chapel United Methodist Church and was retired from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

She is survived by her children; Elizabeth Fay Ragan (Clinton), Greensboro. Ronald Ragan (Blanch Patterson), Chapel Hill. Charlie Ragan (Tracey), Chapel Hill. Grandchildren; Jennifer Woody, Chris Woody, Sharon Carr (Cecil), Tiffany Harris (Cliff), Ron Ragan (Jennifer), Cassie Ragan (Drew Dickson), Kaleigh Ragan, Braxton Ragan. Great Grandchildren; Diane Miller – Davis, Jacob Harris, Joseph Harris, and Ellie Ragan.

Sister; Carolyn Cheek (Bobby), Butner, NC and a brother; Bobby Thompson (Sallie), Mooresville, NC.

Other than her parents Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband; Tommie Joe Ragan. Sisters; Freda Williams and Ava Thompson. Daughter in law: Teresa Ragan.

A funeral service is planned for Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Orange Chapel United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Reverend Cory B. Oliver. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service.

McClure Funeral Home in Graham is serving the Ragan family.
