Elga Ruth (Maschke) Thornton

It is with profound sadness that the family of Elga Ruth Thornton announce her peaceful passing on November 12th at the age of 92 years.

She will lovingly be remembered by her son Michael Thornton (Karin Führer-Thornton) and grandchildren Sugaree Thornton and Neal Thornton.

Elga was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, William S. Thornton of Mebane, NC and her parents Walter and Lilli Maschke of Berlin, Germany.

Elga was a native of Berlin, Germany. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. In her younger years Elgawas an accomplished figure skater in Berlin. She enjoyed volunteering with the American Red Cross. Elga spent her spare time traveling as well as water skiing, gardening, knitting, and sewing.

At Elga’s request, no service will be held. The family requests their privacy and will not be accepting any visitors.
