Elizabeth Cox "Ann" Fenton

February 12, 1939 — September 15, 2013

GRAHAM, NC – Elizabeth Fenton, known to most as Ann, died at the Alamance-Caswell Hospice Home on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, after a long and hard-fought battle with a rare cancer. Ann made it a point in life to "do" for others. She raised her children as a single mom, always putting their needs before her own. She lived for many years in the Mauston, WI area where her children attended Mauston High School and she was a loud and proud member of the Athletic Boosters. Ann worked many years as an executive secretary for Farnam (later Coltec) Industries in Necedah, WI. She later moved to the Milwaukee, WI area where she worked about 15 years for Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District as an executive secretary, rocked and cuddled drug-addicted babies in the NICU at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, supported the staff and was involved in United Methodist Women at Oak Creek Community United Methodist Church, and became an active member of Soroptimist International. Ann later retired to Graham, NC where she helped care for her youngest grandchildren. She was once again active in Soroptimist (Raleigh) and became an active part of First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. Those were some very happy years of her life. Ann was the oldest of 6 children of Everette Leon and Flora Alice Cox, and was raised in Rockford, IL. She is pre-deceased by her parents, her brother Eugene and sister Gail, her brother-in-law Mike Liles, her grandparents and many aunts and uncles. Ann is survived by her three children of Randall C. Fenton, Sr. (divorced), as well as her 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; Laura Lynn Fenton of Madison, WI (children Jason, Amelia, Tommy, Anna Marie, and Andrea), Randy Fenton, Jr. of Warrens, WI (sons Kyle and Travis), and Steven E. Fenton (Sue) of Mebane, NC (children Eric, Matthew, and Emily Ann). She is also survived by sisters Kathy Liles and Lassie (Bob) Marinelli and brother Everette Cox, all of Rockford, IL, many nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog Heidi. A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at First United Methodist Church, 303 N. Main St., Graham, NC, followed by visitation and fellowship with family in Stafford Hall. Among the many wonderful things Ann will be remembered for, one was her green thumb. Her family has many plants to adopt or find new homes for, so in lieu of plants and flowers a special fund has been created that will let Ann's memory and her love of children live on for many years to come. Please consider donations to "FUMC Graham," the Ann Fenton Memorial Fund. McClure Funeral Service in Graham is assisting the family.
