Elizabeth Ora Catoe McGowan, 72, of Burlington, NC left us peacefully on Saturday, June 28, 2025, after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Born on November 15, 1952, Elizabeth was a woman of unwavering spirit , determination and resilience. She had a zest for life, enjoyed music, dancing and often had a Dr. Pepper and a bologna sandwich in hand. Elizabeth loved to watch Duke Basketball and the Dallas Cowboys win. She also cherished her time playing Scrabble and word searches, where her sharp wit and love for words truly shone. She was once a proud employee of Burlington Times-News and owner of her own business, Liz's House Cleaning.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, David Jackson, sister, Ella, mother and father, Della and Louis Catoe.
She is survived by her loving son, David Lee, and his wife, Nicole, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
A graveside service will be held at Alamance Memorial Park Cemetery on July 7, 2025 at 10am to honor Elizabeth’s life. Friends and family are encouraged to join. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Elizabeth’s name to The National Breast Cancer Foundation to continue her fight against the disease and provide others with the ability for early detection.
