Elizabeth Colliver Rice

MEBANE - Elizabeth Colliver Rice, 95, formerly of 1201 Torrey Pines Court in Mebane, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. She was a native of Owingsville, Ky., a retired school teacher and a member of the Slate Valley Christian Church in Owingsville, Ky. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin M. Rice; parents, John B. and Mary Lydia Anderson Colliver; siblings, Jewell Colliver, Burl Colliver and Beulah Jones. She is survived by her son, James O. Rice (Karen) of Mebane, N.C.; grandchildren, Nathan Rice (Kristin) of Southern Pines, N.C. and Samantha Rice Ashby (Taylor) of Greensboro, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2014, in the Richie Hunt Funeral Home Chapel, 89 Slate Road, Owingsville, KY 40360 by the Rev. Lowell Rice and the Rev. Greg Whitt. Burial will follow in the Owingsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. Memorials may be made to the first Baptist Church of Mebane, 301 S.
