Elsie Mae Durham

September 24, 1931 — July 28, 2016

Snow Camp Elsie Mae Noah Durham, 84, of Snow Camp died Thursday, July 28 at Alamance Health Care Center after several months of failing health. A native of Alamance County, she was a retired special education teacher assistant at Southern Middle School and a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Harvey B. Durham; parents, Carl Anderton and Cora Sharpe Noah; daughter, Jane Durham McPherson and brother, Bob Noah. She is survived by her daughter, Gail Durham Alexander and husband Chuck; sons, Harvey Craig Durham and wife Katherine, Gordon Van Durham and wife Kristie; sisters, Carol Noah Durham and Margaret Noah Thompson all of Snow Camp; 9 grandchildren, Eric McPherson and wife Tammy, Brooke McPherson Taylor and husband Chad, Brandon Alexander and wife Michelle, Brent Alexander and wife Uju, Matthew Durham, Rachel Durham, Katie Durham, Adam Durham, Nicole Durham Truitt and husband Chris; 4 great grandchildren, Abby McPherson, Nora Taylor, Emelyn Alexander and Whitaker Alexander. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be 11:00 AM Monday at Pleasant Hill Christian Church Cemetery by Rev. Howard Spray. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service, other times at the residence of Gordon Van Durham, 1735 Carl Noah Road, Snow Camp. Mrs. Durham will be available for viewing Sunday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at McClure Funeral Home in Graham. Memorials may be made to the Alamance County Mayors’ Committee for Persons with Disabilities (ACMCPD), c/o Jane Durham McPherson Scholarship Fund, PO Drawer 357, Graham, NC 27253.
