Emily Moser Gurkin

Mrs. Emily Moser Gurkin 92, of Burlington, NC passed away on Saturday July 10, 2012 at her residence. A native of Alamance County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Gerry and Flora Moser and the wife of the late John Taylor Gurkin Jr. Emily spent most of her life as a homemaker where she was able to spend time and raise her children. She spent the years of 1978 until 2013 as a Pink Lady Volunteer at Memorial Hospital and Alamance Regional Medical Center. She was a longtime member of Andrew’s Memorial Baptist Church where many memories were made throughout the years. Over the years she would always be the one who checked on elderly family members and friends as always cared for and doing  for others in need. Emily enjoyed her flowers and gardening but nothing put a smile on her face like her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Gurkin Durham and husband Rickey; a son, Taylor Gurkin; her loving grandchildren, Brian Coble, Wendy Trogdon, Joshua Durham and wife Erica, Joseph Gurkin and wife Kristina and Chasity Brooks and husband Michael; and two step-grandsons, David Taylor and Aaron Croom; her 12 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren and her 2 great great grandchildren; a brother, Eugene Moser; daughter-in-law, Clara Gurkin and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John Gerry Gurkin; a granddaughter, Courtney Leigh Kennedy and her sisters, Lucille Layell and Sarah Hall. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday July 15, 2021 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Larry Lamberth officiating. Burial will be held in Pine Hill Cemetery alongside her loving husband, John. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until service time on Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the residence of her daughter, Cheryl and Rickey Durham.
