Burlington

Ethel "Diane" Williamson passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026 at Twin Lakes in Burlington.

She was the daughter of the late Palmer Newcomer, Sr. and Annie Marie Hutchens Newcomer, and the devoted wife of the late John Williamson, Sr. Ethel lived a full life of love, laughter and adventure. She was a wonderful sister, an amazing mother, a loving grandmother/great-grandmother, and the best friend anyone could ever ask for. She loved with all her heart.

She found joy in the simple pleasures with her family. She loved nothing more than battling her grandson Tyler in a good video game. She had an adventurous spirit too. She loved four-wheeler rides with her grandson Brandon, and motorcycle rides with her son-in-law Martin. She cherished family beach trips, sitting on the balcony with everyone chatting about their day, sipping on something cold that her grandson Joseph made for her, and watching the sun set over the ocean.

Ethel was great at telling jokes and even better at playing practical jokes. There was never a dull moment in her presence. She had a "saucy" little personality. She was quick-witted and was always prepared with a snappy little come back in any situation. She definitely kept everyone on their toes. She always managed to find joy and laughter even on days when she didn't feel well.

Ethel is remembered by her daughter, Tracy Wright (Martin); her grandsons, Brandon Allen (Payton Mince), Joseph Wright and Tyler Williamson (Kendall); and her great-grandchildren Arlo, Isla and Indy. She is also survived by her brothers Palmer Newcomer, Jr. and Danny Newcomer (Lisa), along with a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members and many dear friends who will miss her deeply.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son John Williamson, Jr.; and her brothers Rodney Newcomer, Sr. and Michael Newcomer.

Ethel's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 25, 2026, in the McClure Funeral Chapel in Graham. The family will have a visitation at the funeral home following the service. The family will also gather at the family home in Leasburg after the visitation.
