Evelyn Lindley Mazejka

SNOW CAMP - Evelyn Mazejka, 96, died peacefully, with her family by her bedside, March 12, 2015. Evelyn was the wife of the late Ernie Mazejka and the daughter of the late J. Webb and Irma Holliday Lindley. Born in Bakersville, N.C., she grew up in Alamance County. After graduating from High Point University and Vanderbilt University, she taught math and physical education in North Carolina Public Schools including Eli Whitney and UNC-G. She then moved on to the Dade County (Miami, Fla.) school system from which she retired. She enjoyed her many years of teaching. After retiring she and Ernie returned to Snow Camp to be close to her "pride and joy", their family. Survivors include two sons, Michael and wife Betty, and Raymond of Snow Camp; daughter, Kathryn of Matthews; six grandchildren, Nicholas and wife Drew, Lucas and wife Holly, Rachel and husband Kevin Hardin, Jessica, Callie and Jesse; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Kathleen Tinnin and Lou Sawyer. A celebration of life will be held Monday, March 16, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Center United Methodist Church in Snow Camp. Viewing will from 10 until 11 a.m. at the church prior to the service on Monday. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall. She requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215 or Center United Methodist Church, 9204 Center Church Road, Snow Camp, NC 27349. McClure Funeral Service in Graham is in charge of arrangements.
