Everette Earl Newton, 78, of Mebane, went home to be with the Lord on May 12th at the Hospice Home of Alamance and Caswell County surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Harnett county on September 4, 1940 to Troy and Betty Lou Newton. Everette was a jack of all trades who enjoyed helping others. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, watching nascar races with his daughter every Sunday, and being outdoors. He also loved to sit on the back porch with his cat, Panther. He enjoyed picking his guitar and singing. He was a true country gentleman.

He is survived by his wife Mildred Newton, daughters Lori Blalock and Tracy Newton (James), grandson Kendall Dean and granddaughter Brittany Blalock (Scott), a brother Melvin Newton ( Nancy), a sister Eunice Ferrell, sister in law Doris Newton and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by two step sons Tim (Kathy) and Chris Vaughan and step grandchildren Corey, Morgan, Daniel, Eli and Hannah Vaughan.

He is predeceased by his son Tim Dean.

A service to celebrate his life will be held 4:00 PM Saturday at the Lamb’s Chapel in Haw River by Rev. David Shelton. Entombment will follow in the Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum Monday at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 3:00 – 4:00 before the service.

The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff of Duke Hospital and the Hospice Home of Alamance and Caswell County for their kind, compassionate care that gave peace and dignity to Everette on his final journey home.
