Florine Efland

Florine Sykes Efland 85, of Efland passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at SECU Jim & Betsy Bryan UNC Hospice Home in Pittsboro, NC. Florine was born in Alamance County to Lacy and Odell Stone Sykes both deceased. She graduated from Mebane High School. She was married to the late Franklin Bane Efland for 61 years. She was a long time member of Efland Presbyterian Church and a faithful Christian. Florine is survived by her daughters, Donna Lunsford, Hillsborough and Sharon McDade (H.C.), Efland. Grandchildren, Thomas Lunsford (Ashlee), Tyler Lunsford (Tiffany), April Lewis (Michael), and a great grandchild, Ayden Lunsford. Sisters, Irene Wade, Mary Elizabeth Neal, Mary Alice Pore, Ruby Martin, Lois Thompson, Betty Jean Aldridge, and a brother, James L. Sykes. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Other than her parents and husband, Florine is preceded in death by her brothers, Harvey and Alfred Sykes. A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Efland Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be Rev. Cheryl Henry with the burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church following the service. The family would like to thank the staff of Duke Hospital 8 West and SECU Jim & Betty Bryan Hospice Home of UNC Healthcare for their care and compassion in caring for Florine.
