Forrest "Jim" James Wrenn Iii

Mr. Forrest James “Jim” Wrenn III, 71, of 201 Ivey Rd. Graham, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington. A native of Chatham County, he was the son of the late Forrest J. Wrenn, Jr. and Barbara Ann Thomas Wrenn. Mr. Wrenn served in the US Air Force of the North Carolina National Guard in the 145th Air Lift Division. He served for 29 years as a volunteer fireman for the City of Graham, 27 of which he served as the Department’s Treasurer. He was also involved in creating the Fireman’s Relief Fund for Graham Fire Department. Jim went to work with his father-in-law in 1966 and later became co-owner of Graham Underwriters. He received his undergraduate degree from Guilford College and was in the first graduating class of the MBA program at Elon College. Jim was an avid outdoorsman, loving to surf fish and go hunting Survivors include a daughter, Dr. Mary Virginia “Vivi” Wrenn of Cambridge, England; a son, Forrest J. Wrenn, IV of Norfolk, VA; sister, Nancy W. Smith (Rick) of Wilmington; brother, William T. “Tom” Wrenn (Martha) Gunn, NC and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia O. Wrenn. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday October 22, 2014 at 2:00pm in the McClure Funeral Chapel in Graham with Rev. Darryl Peebles officiating. Interment will follow in Graham Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-2 on Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service and other times at the residence of the family.
