Frances was a lifetime resident of Alamance County. She was born on September 24, 1937 to George and Mamie Graves. She had a brother Wayne Graves who married Ruth Ann who became great a friend of Frances’s. Though they lost Wayne to a early death they stayed sisters through out life. Ruth Ann was by her bedside reading scriptures to her as she took her last breath. As her parents aged and had medical problems; Frances met Fred Maness whom she starting dating. Fred helped her take care of her parents. In 2000 they married. Fred and Frances had a wonderful life together traveling , eating out, and visiting family and friends. Once a month they had a family reunion lunch with brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. They loved each other so much and loved living life together no matter what they were doing.
Fred’s daughter, Brenda McPherson and Frances were very close. Frances would introduce Brenda as her daughter who treated better than a real daughter would have. Frances loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren with all her heart too. She wanted Jeremy and Zeb Zachary to be part of her funeral. Frances had many cousins whom she enjoyed. Some were very close to her. She even asked her cousin Mike Copeland to officiate her funeral. Frances loved her lifelong friends Ruth Ann Jones, Alice Hadley, and Iris Holmes. They loved spending time together and talking on the phone. Frances loved her church, Mt Olive Baptist Church., and her church family. She sang in the choir there for a time. Most of all she loved her Heavenly Father.
Preceded in death by her father George Graves and mother, Mamie Graves and her bother Wayne Graves. She is survived by husband, Fred J. Maness. Step children, Brenda McPherson and husband Clarence and Mark Maness and wife Jean. Five grandchildren, and 10 step great grandchildren.
The service will be Wednesday, May 7, 2925 in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM. Officiating will be Rev Mike Copeland, Jeremy Zachary and Zeb Zachary. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.
