Mr. Franklin Bane “Frank” Efland, 91, of Efland, NC, passed away on Saturday December 23, 2017 at the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields. A native of Orange County, NC he was the son of the late John Sr. and Bessie Taylor Efland. He was a member and past Deacon at Efland Presbyterian Church. Frank was a proud veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War. At the age of 9, he started working with his father at Efland Milling Company and retired in June 1996. He was the last living sibling of the John Sr. and Bessie Efland family of Efland. He was known to have a lending ear to friends and family and would always put others before himself. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to many. His joys of his life were his family. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Florine Sykes Efland, of the home; daughters, Donna Lunsford, of Hillsborough and Sharon McDade (H.C), of Efland; grandchildren, Thomas Lunsford (fiancé Ashlee Terrell), Tyler Lunsford, and April Lewis (Michael); great grandchild, Ayden Lunsford; and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, John Jr., Wilson, Herman, Tom, Billy, Bobby, and Benton; sisters, Bessie, and Caroline. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday December 27, 2017 at the Efland Presbyterian Church with the Pastor Steve Braxton officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall and other times at the residence of the family. Mr. Efland will lie In State one hour prior to the service at the Church. The family extends a special thank you to Kenneth Daniels, and the Nursing Staff of Hawfields for their love and care shown to Frank during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of Alamance/Caswell at 918 Chapel Hill Rd. Burlington, NC 27215 or to the Efland Presbyterian Church at 3700 US-70, Efland, NC 27243.
