MEBANE - George McAdams Chockley, 63, of Mebane passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. George was born in Bethesda, Md. He farmed all of his life. He had two associate degrees, one from NCSU in Animal Husbandry and one from Piedmont Community College with a degree as a certified Gunsmith. George owned and operated Bulls Eye Gun Shop for 20 years. He was a veteran of Viet Nam serving his country in the U.S. Navy. He was photographer for Eastern Alamance High School for 15 years. He was a Scout master of Troop 43 for 8 years. He worked with Durham Public Safety for 5 years. He was a member of the American Legion and was a former volunteer with the Pleasant Grove Fire Department. George was a member of Cross Roads Presbyterian Church. George is survived by his wife, B.J. Chockley of the home, sons, Joshua Thomas Chockley and wife Samantha of Mebane, NC, Zachary Allen Chockley and wife Cristyle of Germany. Grandson, Eli Barrett Chockley. Mother, Kathryn McAdams Chockley of Mebane, Brother, Joseph Patton Chockley and wife Anne of Mebane, and a nephew, Andrew Chockley of Mebane. He was preceded in death by his father, George Malcolm Chockley. A funeral service will be held Monday, September 22, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Crossroads Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be Rev. Matt Randolph and Rev. Tripp Foltz. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane from 6 until 8 Sunday evening.
