Mr. George Kalani Jungermann 65, of Graham, NC passed away on December 8, 2022 at the Hospice Home in Burlington. George was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on April 8, 1957 to the late George Joseph and Marion Blanche Jungermann. George grew up in Michigan and in Minnesota and following his time in the service he lived in North Carolina. George was a proud Veteran of the US Navy serving as an Engineer on the U.S.S. Conolly DD-979. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where he was an original member of Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament Secular Franciscan Fraternity and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. George had kidney problems for many years and had been on dialysis for 34 years which made him the longest living dialysis patient under care at the VA Hospital. George enjoyed wood working, making dream catchers, canvass art, and doing creative memory books. Over the years George always loved to help his fellow veterans and he would do anything for anyone. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many, but his granddaughters were the reasons for his smiles. Survivors include his loving daughter, Kathy Getkin and husband James; his granddaughters, Tamara Chrisco and Victoria Ashe; his sisters, Malia Kuhnly and husband Brian and Rita Corbine and Husband Terry; his loving nieces and nephews and his loving support dog, Ester. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 39 years, Judy Barts Jungermann; and his brother, Matthew Jude Jungermann. The family will receive friends for George on Monday December 12, 2022 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham and other times at the residence of the family. A memorial service to celebrate George and Judy’s Life will be held on January 7, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The family will visit with friends and family 30 minutes prior to the service on January 7, 2023 at the Church. Inurnment will be held in Salisbury National Cemetery with Military Honors at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the food pantry at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The family of Mr. Jungermann would like to extend a special thank you to their God sent angles, Jewel Albright, Betty Richards, and Flo Echevarria for their love and compassion shown to both George and Judy over the years.
