George Edwyn Whitehead

George Edwyn (Ed) Whitehead, 81, passed away on April 1, 2026 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Tarboro, NC, he grew up in Whitakers, NC and was the son of the late Samuel Lyman Whitehead and Katherine Marks Whitehead.

Ed worked in the premium finance industry for over 40 years and retired from Imperial PFS. Outside of his career, he loved cooking, was in the church’s Chefs Club, and was an award-winning BBQ competition chef.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Parker Whitehead; daughters, Louise Jenkins, Kimberly Hill (Mike), son, Matthew Whitehead (Kristie); grandchildren, Mikaela, Ava, and Parker Hill; and his brothers, Lyman Whitehead (JoAnne) and Chris Whitehead (Carolyn).

He was preceded in death by his parents noted above, a brother, Cecil Whitehead, and infant daughter, Janet Ann Whitehead.

Per Ed's wishes, there will be no formal services.
