Geraldine "Gerri" Allison Murdock

Mrs. Geraldine Allison Murdock, 84 of Mebane, NC, passed away on Wednesday January 17, 2018 at the Hospice Home of Burlington. A native of Alamance County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Jimmy Lee and Iolia Simmons Allison. She was a member of Hawfields Presbyterian Church and was known for being a deeply caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed reading her mystery novels and she always loved to have some sweets around the house for her grandchildren and great granddaughter. Geri liked to watch and feed the birds and her husband David would always put up bird houses for her to enjoy. Survivors include her daughter, Susan M. Layton and husband Douglas, of Mebane; grandchildren, Alexander Layton and wife Stephanie, of Haw River and Amber Cox and husband Adam, of Burlington; and a special great granddaughter, Alexandra Layton, of Haw River; sisters, Linda Roberson, Jean Marley and Frances Massey and a brother, James Allison. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Lindy Murdock; sister, Elizabeth Chattin; brother, Harold Allison; step brother, Wallace Allison and a sister in law, Cathryn Thompson. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday January 27, 2018 at the Hawfields Presbyterian Church with the Pastor David Ealy officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
