Geraldine Self Wright

Mrs. Geraldine Self Wright, 82, of Burlington, NC passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at Peak Resources in Graham. A native of Jefferson Co AL, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Oliver and Ionie Nibblette Self and is preceded in death by her brother, Dwight Self, and her husband of 61 years, Nelson Thomas Wright. Gerri grew up in and around the Leeds area surrounded by her immediate and extended family. As she eventually moved to Marietta GA, then to her final residency in Burlington NC, she often reminisced about adventures with her siblings and cousins. She loved spending time at family reunions and gatherings singing gospel music. Gerri was an administrative/clerical assistant for many years, with Nextel Communications being where she retired from. She enjoyed her work at the computer, drafting letters, organizing files and planning business trips. All of her experience planning those trips in the corporate setting definitely prepared her to plan lots of trips with Nelson over the years. Gerri loved Jesus and had a faith that would definitely move mountains. She was involved in ministry with her husband and enjoyed the many women’s trips she experienced with her sisters in Christ. Lots of laughs were had by all. Gerri was known for her home cooked meals, recipe advice and how much she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her and Nelson left a beautiful legacy in their marriage, by showing love, grace and fortitude during the good times and bad. She was an excellent example for her family to follow. Survivors include her son, Nelson Lynn Wright and wife Jamie; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Joshua and wife Stephanie, Thomas and wife Rachel, Todd and wife Carli, and Stephen and wife Mary; her great grandchildren, Liam, Zeke, Parker, Joseph, Daniel, Lucas, Landon and Parker.

A memorial service will be Saturday, June 8th, 2024 @ Christian Life Assembly, 307 NC 100,  Gibsonville NC 27249.

The family will receive people from 10-11am and the funeral will start at 11am
