BURLINGTON - Mr. Gilbert Louis Clayton, 89, of 1987 Hilton Road, passed away 7:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, at the Alamance Regional Medical Center.He was born in Person County to Christopher Columbus Clayton and Bertha Allie Ashley Clayton, now deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margret Ramsey Clayton, and son, Gilbert L. Clayton Jr. He was retired from Cone Mills and a veteran of the U.S. Army.Surviving are his daughters Alice C. (Larry) Martin, of Burlington, Carol Warren, of Burlington, Phyllis C.(Ronnie) Pierce, of Burlington, Charlotte C. Gray, of Burlington; a son, Wayne Clayton, of Gibsonville; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Catherine C. Aiken, of Durham; and a brother, Phudalph "Skinner" Clayton, of Roxboro.The family will receive friends at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, from 10 a.m. until service time. The service will be held at 11 a.m. in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel, Graham, with the Rev. James L. Rosser officiating. Burial will follow in the Long's Chapel Cemetery.
