Gladys Marie Cole

Mebane Gladys Marie Cooper Cole, 98, a resident of the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields died there Friday, February 19. She was a native of Montgomery County, a homemaker, and a longtime member of Belmont Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, collecting rocks, writing poetry and painting. She was also blessed with a very quick and sharp wit. She was preceded in death by her parents, Barnum and Verna Davis Cooper; husband, Alvin C. Cole; brother, Thomas Cooper and sister, Ethel Saunders. She is survived by her son, Marvin A. Cole and wife Ruth of Burlington; sisters, Ottie Boone and Essie Mashburn both of Star; brother, Neal Cooper and wife Dorothy of Asheboro; Grandchildren, Tony M. Cole and wife Dorene 0f Burlington and Lisa C. Jones and husband Keith of Graham; Great Granddaughter, Heather Talley and husband Todd of Mebane and Great Great Grandson, Jase Talley of Mebane. A service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00 PM Sunday at Belmont Baptist Church by Rev. Keith Jones and Rev. Larry Janey. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home in Graham Saturday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, other times at the residence of Lisa and Keith Jones. The family would like to thank the staff of the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields for the love and care shown to Mrs. Cole while she was a resident.
