Gloria "Glo" Realini, 78, of Burlington, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 13, 2026. Born in Alamance County, Gloria was the beloved daughter of the late Jack and Evelyn "Pete" Terrell.
She dedicated 27 years of service to the Alamance County Sheriff's Office, where she worked as a valued member of the administrative and clerical staff. Her commitment to serving others extended far beyond her career and remained a defining characteristic throughout her life. A devoted member of Haw River Christian Church, Gloria faithfully volunteered her time in her church and throughout the community. She was also an active volunteer with Relay For Life, reflecting her passion for encouraging and supporting those facing cancer. As a proud 33-year breast cancer survivor, Gloria turned her own journey into a ministry of compassion. She volunteered at the cancer center, sitting with breast cancer patients, offering comfort, hope, and a listening ear to those walking a path she knew so well. Her kindness, empathy, and gentle spirit touched countless lives, and she never hesitated to help someone in need. Whether family, friend, or stranger, Gloria had a remarkable ability to listen without judgment and make everyone feel loved and valued. She loved camping, water skiing, spending time at the beach, shag dancing, and listening to beach music. She found peace tending her garden and had a special love for animals, especially dogs and horses. Her warm smile, generous heart, and unwavering faith left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband; Douglas K. Realini and her grandson, Kenley Drake Caroon.
She is survived by her daughters, Nikki Taylor and Kristi Caroon; her grandchildren, Nicholas Taylor, Jenny Taylor, Elijah Caroon, Ishhod Caroon, and Isaiah Caroon; her four great-grandchildren; and her cousins who are more like brothers, Larry Martin and Phil Martin.
A service will be held to honor her life at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane on Saturday, July 18, 2026, beginning at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Phil Hardy officiating.
