Gloria Vila

Gloria Vila, 92 of Mebane, was called by her Lord and Savior on September 4 , 2024 at AuthoraCare in Burlington, NC. A native of Guayanilla, P.R., she was the daughter of the late Jose Pagan and the late Maria Albino de Pagan. She was the wife of almost 65 years of the late Francisco Vila who passed in 2021. As newlyweds, Gloria and Francisco moved to Bridgeport, Conn. where they started their family. In the late 1960’s they moved their family back to Puerto Rico. Following their children they moved back to the states, first to Galveston, TX and finally they settled in North Carolina. After moving to Alamance County, Gloria and Francisco help with the establishment of several Hispanic Evangelical churches in the area. She was a great cook, love to sew, crochet, and play bowling. Gloria and her husband were avid bowlers. They traveled to several countries to participate in tournaments wining numerous trophies.

Gloria is survived by her four children, Walter Vila (Zulma) of Haw River; Gloria Pasarell (Lester) of League City, Texas; Doreen Vila (Carlos) of Mebane; and Frank Vila (Amarilli ) of Mebane; Seven grandchildren, Walter Vila (Michelle) of Haw River; Nanette Atkinson (James) of Haw River; Eddie Seijo-Vila (Morgan) of Burlington; Michelle Sparks (Chad) of Conroe, Texas; Leslie Pasarell of League City, Texas; Enrique Vila (Breanna) of Graham and Juan Carlos Vila (Jacqueline) of Gibsonville.  Six great grandchildren, Collin and Gabriela Atkinson of Haw River, Victoria Eden and Beckham Vila of Burlington, and Remi Kate and Charli Enid Sparks of Conroe, Texas.  One step great grandchild, Auron Armstrong of Graham. She is also survived by two brothers, Efrain Pagan of Ansonia, Conn, Jose Pagan Jr (Carmen) of Guayanilla, PR; a sister, Josefina Pagan of Waterbury, Conn, and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband Francisco, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Milagros, and two sisters.

On Monday September 9, 2024 the family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00pm at McClure Funeral Service in Graham. The funeral service will commence at 11:00pm held by the Rev. Otoniel Recinos. The burial to follow at Graham Memorial Park.
