BURLINGTON - Mr. Harry Lee Jeffries, 79, of 1930 Jeffries Cross Road, passed away at 6:05 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at the Alamance Health Care after two years of failing health.Born in Alamance County to the late Harvey and Gertrude Jeffries, he was a member of the Jeffries Cross Baptist Church and a retired farmer and textile worker.Surviving are his daughter, Vanessa Jeffries Miranda, of Burlington; sister, Florence Jeffries of Burlington; nephew, Joe Thomas "Joey" Jeffries III of Burlington; niece, Emily Gail Jeffries of Yanceyville; special family friend, Enora Murray Burnette of Burlington; and a host of extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Kay Frances Jeffries; and brothers, Joe Thomas Jeffries II, Brice Jeffries and Loy Russell Jeffries.A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at the Jeffries Cross Baptist Church with the Rev. Ben Morrow officiating. Burial will follow in the Martin's Chapel Baptist Church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.Public viewing will be from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at McClure Funeral Home in Graham.
