Haywood William Mann Jr.

Haywood William Mann, Jr, 77, of Mebane, North Carolina, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 27, 2024, surrounded by his family.  A beloved husband, father, and pawpaw and will be truly missed.

He was born on October 24, 1947, in Alamance County. After graduating high school, he was drafted to the United Sates Army where he served for 3 years. During that time, he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He retired from Mebane Lumber Company after many years of work.  He was also a faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church where, he served as a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school director and deacon for many years.

After meeting on a blind date, Haywood married the love of his life, Carolyn Sharpe Mann on October 2, 1970. The two shared a loving marriage for 54 years and were blessed with two children and three grandchildren.

Haywood is survived by his wife Carolyn Mann of the home, daughter Tanya Dark and husband Eric of Graham, son Matthew Mann and wife Ashley of Graham, three grandkids Chris, Cooper, and Hanna, two step granddaughters and three step great grandkids, three nephews and several cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father, Haywood Mann Sr., Mother, Mary Mann, and sister, Doris Mills.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 2, at Eastside Baptist Church in Mebane. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the time of service at the church. Following the service, a graveside service will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Mebane, where Haywood will be laid to rest.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to AuthoraCare Hospice of Burlington in Haywood’s memory.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to AuthoraCare Hospice of Burlington for the compassionate care provided during Haywood’s final days.
