Hazel Jones Ward

Mrs. Hazel Jones Ward, 94, of Efland, NC went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 15, 2023. She was a native of Alamance County and was the daughter of the late James Harge and Mary Terrell Jones. Mrs. Ward spent her time as a homemaker and a farmer’s wife. She loved flowers, sewing, and there wasn’t anything she couldn’t do. She was a lifelong member of Lebanon United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and one of the oldest living members of the church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ward is preceded in death by her husband, John Ira Ward Jr.; her sisters, Mae Hunter, and Irene Staley; and her brothers, Otis Jones, Woodrow Jones, Vance Jones, and Robert Jones.

She is survived by her son, John Ira Ward III (Mary Ann); her daughters, Peggy Majors, Donna Francis (David), and Sandra Hannon (John); her six grandchildren, Benny, Ward, Sarah, Heather, Mary, and Matthew; and one great grandchild, Addy.

A funeral service will be held for Mrs. Ward on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at McClure Funeral Service in Mebane beginning at 11AM.  The family will receive friends on Monday, July 17, 2023, from 6-8PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
