Henry Ray Johnson

Mr. Henry Ray Johnson, 90, of Graham, passed away on Sunday January 14, 2018 at the Hospice Home of Burlington. A native of Alamance County, NC, he was the son of the late Jesse and Early Johnson. Henry was retired from Burlington Industries with 20 years of service. He attended Ireland Street Chapel with his wife. Henry played Minor League baseball in his younger days and always enjoyed baseball games. He was a proud veteran of the US Army, serving during WWII. Henry was known to have been a jolly man, always laughing and putting smiles on other people’s faces. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Virginia Dare Townsend Johnson, of the home; his son, Lynn Johnson, of Banner Elk, NC and his loving 7 nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Gayrene Quakenbush and his brother, Calvin Johnson. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday January 18, 2018 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the Pastor Larry Batts officiating. Burial will follow in Moore’s Chapel Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at McClure Funeral Home and other times at the residence of the family.
