Hilda Wilson Blackard Allen

Mrs. Hilda Wilson Blackard Allen, 93, of Hoover Rd. Mebane, NC, passed away on Wednesday August 3, 2016 at White oak Manor after an illness of approximately six months and critical illness of two days. A Native of Person County, NC, she was the wife of the late E.W. Allen Jr. and the daughter of the late Thomas Fletcher Blackard and Nannie Blackard Riley. She retired from Western Electric in 1976 where she was a lifetime Pioneer. She was a lifelong member of the Mebane United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women, Singles and Singles again, Esther Circle, and helped in the food pantry. Hilda loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She was known for being so much fun to be around and Hilda never met a stranger. Survivors include Minnie Lee Allen, her daughter –in-law and caregiver; grandson, Tommy Allen (Angie); granddaughter, Christy Allen Abram (Phillip); great grandchildren, Shelley Allen and J. Owens; step great grandchildren, Erica, Marl and Luke Abram and several nieces and nephews in Mebane, Florida, Oklahoma and Washington. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Thomas Eugene Allen; sisters, Earle B. Wilkinson, Christine B. Pace and Lottie B. Wilkinson. There will be a graveside service held at 2:30 PM on Sunday August 7, 2016 at the Oakwood cemetery in Mebane with the Chaplain David Fox officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 prior to the graveside service at the McClure Funeral Home in Mebane and other times at the residence of her daughter in law, Minnie on Hoover Rd.
