Hilda"Misty" Michelle (Puryear) Stewart

Mrs. Hilda Michelle Puryear “Misty” Stewart 50, of Mebane, NC passed away on February 1, 2025. A native of Mecklenburg Co. VA,. Misty was a graduate of Bluestone High School Skipwith, Va., and Campbell University, Buies Creek, NC. Misty was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend to all. Time with her family meant the most to her. Having her family and friends around for the holidays was her favorite time of year. Over the years, she always enjoyed her family beach trips with Steve and the girls. As a “Softball Mom” she never missed a ballgame, event, or any special occasion that involved her girls, as she would always be there for them.   She was employed at Orange Alamance Water Systems. She was known for her kind heart and her selfless ways as she always put the needs of others above her own but nothing put a smile on her face like her family. You would always see her smiling.

She is survived by the love of her life and husband of 22 years, Steve D. Stewart; her loving girls, Jones Elaine Stewart and Edith Lynn “Edie” Stewart; her parents, James Edward Puryear and Hilda Jones Puryear; a brother, Chandler Puryear; her mother in law, Brenda Patterson Stewart; a sister in law, Traci Stewart; a brother in law, Marty Stewart and wife Jenn; her niece and nephews, Van, RJ, and Ellen Stewart, and many other loving family members and special friends. She was predeceased by father in law, Billy Rand Stewart and grandparents Arthur & Edith Crowe Puryear and Sam & Gertie Hall Jones.

A funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday February 5, 2025, at The First Baptist Church in Mebane, NC with Pastor Sammy Ballard and Dr. Brad Harrison officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday and other times at the residence of the family. Burial will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday Following the funeral at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery in Chase City, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery fund at 10077 Old Cox Rd. Chase City, VA 23924. McClure Funeral Service in Mebane is honored to serve the family.
