Howard Braxton

Howard Taft Braxton, Jr., 87, of Elon died Thursday, September 5, 2019. He was a native of Alamance County, retired from Western-Electric(AT&T), a member of Bellemont United Methodist Church and a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was the son of the late Howard Taft Braxton, Sr. & Bonnie Woody Braxton.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Brown Braxton of the home; daughters, Beverly Braxton Spencer and husband Todd of Chapel Hill, Pamela Braxton Russell and husband Russ of Troy; sister, Brenda Smith and husband Clinton of Graham; grandchildren, Lauren Newnam and husband Smith, Jason Spencer and friend Madeline Sosna, Chappell Foley and husband Justin, Claire Russell and friend Ben Little; great granddaughter, Reia Newnam.

A service to celebrate his life will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Bellemont United Methodist church by Pastor Farron Duncan. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 1:00 – 1:45 before the service, other times at the residence of Chuck and Nancy Guthrie.
