Howard "Hoover" Dixon

Mr. Howard “Hoover” Dixon, 94, of Saxapahaw, NC, passed away on June 25, 2023, at the Hospice Home in Burlington. Hoover was the son of the late Theodore Bromling Dixon and Julia Ann Strayhorn Dixon. Hoover loved to garden and was considered a farmer at heart. He loved to tell stories to his family and friends and will be forever known for his kind heart and love for others. He was a retired manager in the textile industry and was a longtime member of Saxapahaw United Methodist Church and a proud veteran of the US Army. Surviving are his sons, Howard Brack Dixon and wife Susan, Kenneth Lee Dixon and wife Doresa, and Keith Gary Dixon and wife Karen; his grandchildren, Maura Morris, Bradley Dixon and Kristi Yow; his loving 5 great grandchildren and his 2 step great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ann Rowland and a special friend, Margaret Foster and family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Peggy Braxton Dixon, a grandchild, Dallas Brack Dixon; his sisters, Margaret Crutchfield, and Nannie Lou McBane; his brothers, William, Jake, and Edward Dixon. A Graveside service will b e held at 11:00 AM on Thursday June 29, 2023, at the Moore’s Chapel Cemetery with the Pastor Billy Sander officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday June 28, 2023, at McClure Funeral Service in Graham.
